Avatar State

I was fortunate enough to find out about a Avatar gallery exhibition that the creators of the show were putting on and they invited fans to try to be a part of the exhibit. I ended up being inspired to do the Korra piece you see below. Since I had done a season 1 Korra piece, I felt, I needed to do a Aang piece as well which you see below too. I can't get enough of these shows and am so glad to see them continue. I hope I can get my hands on Season 4 of Korra asap!

The Shred Head

Above is a marker and Photoshop test to add to the TMNT piece I am working on now.  I did the marker portion to practice my marker skills for my Upper Deck assignment that I am currently working on. I've done marker drawings with simple blank backgrounds (i.e. Nova) and color backgrounds (i.e. Batman vs. Captain America) and I wanted to see if I could make a photoshop background that would help make the image pop as well. Integrating original art and computer art can make for some powerful art. I hope to show those cards for Upper Deck to you before the end of the month!

I've always enjoyed the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ever since I was a kid, and thoroughly enjoyed the TMNT animated movie. I enjoyed it so much so that I did the drawing below inspired by the show! When exhibiting it at comic con's, it always got a smile out of people, children and adult alike. For that reason I've begun doing a full illustration based on these fun guys.

Since I'll be at the Baltimore Comic Con September 7th-8th, I want to have something new for that and will have that TMNT piece, in black and white at the very least, for visual consumption=]

MATHEMATICAL!

I am meeting deadlines left and right, this is so fun =] So here is my Adventure Time Illustration. This wasn't an easy illustration for me to create.  As an artist you need to know when to let something go and move on to the next project and i have reached that point here and am moving on.  I am happy with the outcome but would love to see how this may look a few years down the line when I've grown some more.

Adventure Time is the new Sponge Bob in my eyes.  I won't let my nephews watch this show but this is a great show for teenagers who understand the jokes better and know what to take seriously and what to laugh at. This show can be very freeing and fun to watch when you simply just let your mind go and allow yourself the adventures.  They even may spark imagination to run wild in your own mind... I enjoyed my studies that were undertaken in order to come up with this. I hope you like the final result=]

This was done just in time for Boston Comic Con and will be available for that show and for C2E2! See you there=]

One Powerful Family

I was asked to contribute some art to a woman's choir who was doing a fundraiser with a silent auction and I contributed my Lion-O piece. An auctioneer saw the work and was so put aback from it that she asked me to create another nostalgic piece for her in She-Ra.

I have previously done a drawing of Evil Lynn and had it in my portfolio at comic cons.  It has sparked question of whether I've done any other Masters of the Universe characters.  Since I had now done the
She-Ra piece, I figured it would be great to have her cousin standing beside her in solidarity! I present to you He-Man!

While creating the She-Ra piece, I realized I could do a double page spread of the two characters so they they could be showcased individually and then together as a dynamic duo.

And here are some inks for you to see the work that gets put into the pieces=]

Jack Frost

Every once in a while I am asked to do portraits or combinations of someones face with a specific character. This is another example of that being done.  The woman who asked for this had me use her nephews face as a reference. She then wanted me to use that reference in combination with the original character and create an illustration from the two.  After seeing the movie "Rise of The Guardians" from which this is based on, I figured having Jack Frost engaging some of the constructs that he fights was a good way to show some action.

Here are the inks for the original drawing.  After presenting the colors, I was asked to soften up the jawline and make the eyes larger in order to make the face look more youthful.

Baby Looney Tunes

This image was created to be a banner behind a family who will be cutting a cake for their child. They also wanted the individual characters to be spread out around the party as well so the banner was made from the individual images supplied below. In all honesty, Lola Bunny was the funnest to draw, with Sylvester a close second. Who is your favorite?

Clash of the Titans!

Here we have Thor vs. Wonder Woman, and strangely enough those asked on Facebook went with Wonder Woman, but Thor wins out on Deviantart.com.... I go for Wonder Woman myself, I think it'd be nice to see her win this=]

New 52 2.0

Green Lantern, Black Canary and Green Arrow. I have been thankfully tasked with throwing these three together and what fun it was researching their looks!  I ended up seeing a funny picture of the Winchester Boys in the Green Arrow suit as a parody.... pretty funny=]

check out http://thelearningcurv.deviantart.com to see the pencils and inks for this=]

Evil Lynn

A few years back, I set up a challenge on my DeviantArt page and someone suggested I try my hand at Evil Lynn.  I wasn't able to do the colors the way I wanted back then, but recently I've been practicing and felt I needed to try my hand at practice with her since she was all ready for the treatment.  How do you think I faired?

I have a page on thelearningcurv.deviantart.com and see that a lot of the artists on there have spots over here so I thought I'd try it out and see what all the hub bub is about. I hope to be uploading some art sometime soon, and would love to hear what any and all of you have to say about my attempts to create.....here's a taste of what you'll see from me.....
